Model Jails Grant Opportunity
New funding for project supporting children of incarcerated parents
A new grant opportunity is available to implement strategies to support children of incarcerated parents. The grant has two tracks:

Model Jail Practices to support Children of Incarcerated Parents: Eligible applicants include county or tribal jails, or a county or tribal entity that is authorized to apply on behalf of the jail facility.

Programs and Supports for Children of Incarcerated Parents: Eligible applicants include county government, tribal governments, or other community-based non-profit in corresponding areas to the jail participants.
Participants in this program would become a part of the Minnesota Model Jail Practices Learning Community.
The overall goals of the Minnesota Model Jail Practices Learning community are to:
- Establish a statewide network of jails to enhance and scale model jail practices that strengthen families until these practices become standard statewide.
- Increase the quantity and quality of parent-child interactions during and after incarceration among children and families impacted by incarceration.
- Improve the social, emotional, and mental wellbeing of children and youth with an incarcerated parent.

The 2023 Minnesota legislature has produced historic investments in housing and homelessness. We are so grateful for you, our advocates, and the work you have put in for years leading up to this moment.
The Office of Economic Opportunity received nearly 100 applications in response to the Request for Proposals to Acquire, Plan and Design, Construct and/or Renovate Emergency Homeless Shelters. To ensure a robust review process they nee additional volunteers for our review committee, and they are asking for your assistance!
