This daylong conference at Metro State University’s Saint Paul campus will examine the specific challenges faced by youth in the criminal legal system or at risk of involvement in it.  Topics will include historical and personal trauma, the school-to-prison pipeline, and prosecution of youth as adults, as well as options for response such as community prevention, restorative practices, mentorship, and alternatives to incarceration.

The annual URMI conference—now in its tenth year—is free and all are welcome to participate.  If you have any questions, please email Dr. Therissa Libby, Professor and Department Chair in Human Services, at therissa.libby@metrostate.edu.

AR48(P) Copayment Exemption for Indian Veterans

AR48(P) Copayment Exemption for Indian Veterans

What does the regulation do? This Proposed rulemaking would exempt those veterans who are Indian or urban Indian (as defined in the Indian Health Care Improvement Act) from copayments for hospital care and medical services. It would establish documentation requirements to demonstrate a veteran meets these definitions of Indian or urban Indian. It would also authorize VA to retroactively reimburse these veterans for care received on or after January 5, 2022.

Who does it impact? Veterans who are Indian or urban Indian (as defined in the Indian Health Care Improvement Act)

Why is it happening/important? To ensure that these veterans do not have to pay copays for health care they receive through VA. It would eliminate a barrier to care.

Why are we doing it?  This is mandated by 38 U.S.C 1730A, as amended by section 3002 of the Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D. Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020
