Understanding the Needs and Programmatic Interests of Incarcerated Parents - Findings from a Prison Needs Assessment

In March 2021, the DOC piloted the self-reported assessment (SRA), which was completed by more than 2,000 incarcerated people. The data from the SRA pilot will yield multiple studies, the first of which was a collaboration between researchers from the University of Minnesota (Luke Muenter, Rebecca Shlafer and Marianne Howland) and the DOC (Valerie Clark and Grant Duwe). Their study, which was accepted for publication at Corrections: Policy, Practice and Research (a peer-reviewed academic journal), examined the needs and program interests of parents in prison.
