SOTP Quarter Break Job Interviewing Class

Why: To assist SOTP offenders preparing for release to improve/develop job interviewing skills
Who: Anyone with experience in hiring / conducting job interviews and/or helping offenders prepare for a successful release
It’s that time again that the MCF-Lino Lakes Sex Offender Treatment Program (SOTP) is preparing for quarter break and the quarterly Job Interviewing Class. We are looking for volunteers to conduct practice mock interviews for the offenders to work on their interviewing skills in preparation of their release. This is a great way to take a break from your normal work routine and provide offenders with the practice they need to seek employment. As you know we have a quite long quarter break in December.
We are scheduled to have our mock job interviews on the afternoon of Friday, April 3rd. This starts with a Thank You luncheon & orientation for the volunteers at 11:45am (in J-3/Carver). At 1:00 we will gather with the SOTP offenders for an overview and then the rest of the afternoon (until 3:45) will be spent in doing mock interviews with the offenders and providing them with valuable feedback on their interview strengths and ways in which they can improve their interviewing skills. Corrections Reentry Technician, Reentry West

RS EDEN is currently seeking a full-time Reentry Technician for its Reentry West Program located in St. Paul. The Reentry Technician is responsible for directly supervising resident actions and movements, thus assuring that all program rules and regulations and contracting sources are followed. The Reentry Technician serves as a liaison between resident and case management staff. He/she informally guides and supports residents and acts as the ongoing contact for residents. PROJECT NAME: Pre-release Health Care Navigation Support

DETAILS: The Minnesota Department of Corrections (“DOC”) is seeking proposals from trained, qualified MNsure-certified Healthcare Navigation community organizations, hereinafter referred to as “Volunteer Healthcare Navigator” to provide help enrolling incarcerated men and women (“Clients”) nearing release in DOC facilities in Medical Assistance, MinnesotaCare or private health insurance plans. This initiative will be a collaborative release planning effort with DOC staff and other stakeholders. Project goals are to connect all people being released from DOC facilities to medical insurance benefits through help filling out applications, enrolling in coverage, providing basic insurance education, helping with renewals and providing enrollment follow-up. This MOU is a mutual benefit, no cost project on behalf of the DOC for navigator work only; it does not encompass brokers or include a budget, travel or any other reimbursable expenses.
GOAL: Enter into a no cost Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with qualified organizations who will, in consultation and cooperation with the DOC, provide the healthcare navigation services outlined above. Additional objectives include:
• Volunteer Healthcare Navigator will participate in annual training as a volunteer organization with the DOC.
• Collaborative meetings to discuss project goals, logistics, and outcomes.
• Active communication with case management and supervised release agents to address conditions of release and treatment location options.
• Commitment to complete at least five (5) enrollments per month with the understanding that the Volunteer Healthcare Navigator may educate about healthcare plans, but advice about plan selection will not be given.
• Increased connections of Clients to healthcare benefits
• Healthcare Education and application assistance are provided at DOC correctional facilities locations, as mutually agreed upon by DOC and Volunteer Healthcare Navigator.
• Other related outcomes identified as mutually agreed upon by DOC and Volunteer Healthcare Navigator.
Work is anticipated to start after June 30, 2020.

The proposal should outline the ability to deliver a total of at least four (4) groups per week at varying times and days including evenings and weekends. MN DOC staff may co-facilitate the curriculum with the contracted facilitator.
