We hope you can join us as Proof Alliance, formerly MOFAS, presents the 8th annual FASD Conference: Opening Doors to a Brighter Future. The conference will bring together experts, key stakeholders, and families. Over three days there will be a Pre-Conference Institute, keynote presenters, and breakout sessions on the latest research, promising practices, and innovative programs related to fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).

We are proud to announce this year's conference will be held at a new venue, Mystic Lake Center in Prior Lake, MN, and will provide topics on both FASD prevention and support to help us stay true to our mission. Our mission is to eliminate disability caused by alcohol consumption during pregnancy and to improve the quality of life for people living with an FASD.

Mass Incarceration as a Chronic Condition:

Diagnosis, Prognosis, and Treatment

On Monday, November 18,  Minnesota Law Review will be hosting its symposium that will run from 8:30 am to 4:45 pm. Speakers will discuss mass incarceration in light of the themes in Franklin Zimring's forthcoming book, The Insidious Momentum of Mass Incarceration. It will feature Rachel E. Barkow as a keynote speaker, presenting "Prisoners of Politics: Breaking the Cycle of Mass Incarceration." Other speakers, listed on the website, will discuss sentencing reform, risk assessment and release, and the roles of prosecutors and judges in reducing mass incarceration. Franklin Zimring will attend and present a response.

Why: To assist SOTP offenders preparing for release to improve/develop job interviewing skills
Who: Anyone with experience in hiring / conducting job interviews and/or helping offenders prepare for a successful release

It’s that time again that the MCF-Lino Lakes Sex Offender Treatment Program (SOTP) is preparing for quarter break and the quarterly Job Interviewing Class. We are looking for volunteers to conduct practice mock interviews for the offenders to work on their interviewing skills in preparation of their release. This is a great way to take a break from your normal work routine and provide offenders with the practice they need to seek employment.

Transitions Clinic Community Health Worker (CHW)

The Transitions Clinic Community Health Worker (CHW) will be responsible for assisting patients and
care team members with care coordination activities. The CHW will help patients navigate the
healthcare system, understand and connect to resources, eliminate barriers to care, and increase
knowledge around self-management and health promotion activities.
This position will specifically provide outreach, counseling, navigational services, and case management
services to individuals recently released from jail with chronic diseases, including those with opioid and
other substance use disorders and/or mental health conditions who receive care at the Transitions Clinic
Program in downtown Minneapolis, MN.

Boots to Business Reboot for Veterans

Minnesota veterans and their spouses are invited to take a free entrepreneurship training course called Boots to Business Reboot. Offered in two locations, this class is great for any veteran, service member (including members of the National Guard and Reserves) or spouse who has an interest in starting his or her own business now or in the future.
Hosted by the Small Business Administration, with help from several local and national partners, Reboot is a two-step training program that helps veterans learn what it takes and prepares them to dive into business ownership.
After completing "Introduction to Entrepreneurship" course, participants can elect to further their study through the B2B Revenue Readiness online course, delivered through a partnership with Mississippi State University (MSU). This course is offered at no cost to service members, veterans and military spouses.

DHS, through its Economic Assistance and Employment Supports Division, Office of Economic Opportunity, is seeking Proposals from qualified Responders to partner with the State to coordinate and deliver culturally and developmentally appropriate Shelter-Linked or shelter-based mental health services to youth. The target population for services are youth staying in a Safe Harbor or Homeless Youth Act shelter or housing program, and youth in those settings who are uninsured or underinsured. Rule 25 and/or Comprehensive Assessments to Incarcerated Men and Women The Minnesota Department of Corrections, Reentry Services and Release Planning Section of the Health Services Unit, is requesting proposals for the purpose of providing Rule 25 and/or Comprehensive Assessments to incarcerated men and women nearing release in DOC facilities. This initiative will be a collaborative release planning effort with the DOC Case Management and Supervised Release Agents. Project goals are to increase appropriate access to post-release clinical SUD treatment needs and connection to those services in the community. The newly refurbished 2700 square foot home is clean, comfortable, and calm — a supportive and homey atmosphere in which clients can build sober, fulfilling and productive lives. Located just a block from a rapid transit bus line in the Victory neighborhood of Minneapolis, the home is within minutes of jobs, educational opportunities, healthcare, substance abuse treatment, and therapy clinics.
The program aims to support a healthy, grounded lifestyle though connections with housemates going through similar experiences and with professionals trained in providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed care.

Integrated Reentry & Employment Strategies: Pilot Project Process Evaluation Report The IRES Pilot Project Process Evaluation Report details findings from a three-year project that sought to reduce recidivism and increase job readiness for people returning to Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, and Palm Beach County, Florida after incarceration. Corrections, reentry, and workforce development administrators and practitioners from across the country can use these takeaways to facilitate conversations with key stakeholders about their own ability to integrate the efforts of corrections and workforce development systems to meet the reentry and employment needs of people returning from incarceration.
