The East Side Freedom Library and the Circle of Support and Accountability Program of the Minnesota Department of Corrections invite you to watch and discuss “Coming Home.”
Coming Home is a documentary film focused on five people returning back to their Vermont communities from prison. The film focuses on the innovative COSA program (Circle of Support and Accountability) that helps reintegrate folks back into their daily lives. It provides an intimate and personal window into institutions, systems, and legal processes.

Trauma and Brain Science: Why Is My Work Following Me Around? (webinar)

This webinar will address how brain science explains the longer-term effects of trauma and how it impacts us in various aspects of our lives. It will teach participants how to identify trauma responses as opposed to other problems. It will provide skills to address specific impacts related to how trauma impacts our work, our ability to focus, our ability to get regular, restful sleep, and our relationships. It will offer options for seeking support or assistance when individual skills practice is not enough.

Conference Only: $150 | Pre-Conference: Free with Conference Registration We hope you can join us as Proof Alliance, formerly MOFAS, presents the 8th annual FASD Conference: Opening Doors to a Brighter Future. The conference will bring together experts, key stakeholders, and families. Over three days there will be a Pre-Conference Institute, keynote presenters, and breakout sessions on the latest research, promising practices, and innovative programs related to fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).
We are proud to announce this year's conference will be held at a new venue, Mystic Lake Center in Prior Lake, MN, and will provide topics on both FASD prevention and support to help us stay true to our mission. Our mission is to eliminate disability caused by alcohol consumption during pregnancy and to improve the quality of life for people living with an FASD.

Mass Incarceration as a Chronic Condition:
Diagnosis, Prognosis, and Treatment
On Monday, November 18, Minnesota Law Review will be hosting its symposium that will run from 8:30 am to 4:45 pm. Speakers will discuss mass incarceration in light of the themes in Franklin Zimring's forthcoming book, The Insidious Momentum of Mass Incarceration. It will feature Rachel E. Barkow as a keynote speaker, presenting "Prisoners of Politics: Breaking the Cycle of Mass Incarceration." Other speakers, listed on the website, will discuss sentencing reform, risk assessment and release, and the roles of prosecutors and judges in reducing mass incarceration. Franklin Zimring will attend and present a response.
