Also, we will explore the link between resiliency and protective factors that lead to community healing and health. SOTP Quarter Break Job Interviewing Class

When: Wednesday, July 3rd, 2019
Time: 11:45 am – 4:00 pm
Where: MCF – Lino Lakes, Sex Offender Treatment Program
Why: To assist SOTP participants in preparing for release to improve/develop job interviewing skills
Who: Anyone with experience in hiring / conducting job interviews and/or helping offenders prepare for a successful release

MCF-Lino Lakes Sex Offender Treatment Program (SOTP) is preparing for quarter break and the quarterly Job Interviewing Class. We are looking for volunteers to conduct practice mock interviews for the offenders to work on their interviewing skills in preparation of their release. This is a great way to take a break from your normal routine and provide offenders with the practice they need to seek employment.

We are scheduled to have our class for the practice/mock job interviews on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 3rd. This starts with a Thank You luncheon & orientation for the volunteers at 11:45 am. At 1:00 we will gather with the SOTP men for an overview and then the rest of the afternoon (until 3:45) will be spent doing mock interviews with the men and providing them with valuable feedback on their interview strengths and ways in which they can improve their interviewing skills.

For those of you that have never done this before**, we have a few SOTP men that have participated in this opportunity prior to their release report back to us after their release that they did go into interviews with greater confidence and were hired pretty quickly upon release so we would like to continue the class but cannot do so without the generosity of volunteers. Volunteers have also reported feeling a great deal of satisfaction in seeing the offenders’ willingness to learn and watching them improve their skills.

Please let me know (Mary.Cardinal@state.mn.us) that you are interested and available by Tuesday, 6/25/19 (this allows time for getting the security paperwork done). If you are not a DOC employee, I need you to send a copy of your driver’s license with your RSVP (if you came in over the past year, you don’t need to send it again). Then just show up on 7/3/19 at approx. 11:30 am in the MCF-LL main lobby and check in.

Also, if any of you are interested in helping with the prep class that meets on Friday, June 29th from 8:00 – 11:10 am & 1:00 – 4:10 pm for the full or a half a day, please let us know as it’s not possible for our volunteers to get here each time, it would be nice to have a few people able to bring their experiences to this part of the class as well.
