Best Practices in Reentry: The Assess, Plan, Identify,
Coordinate (APIC) Model
May 22, 2019, 12:30-2:00 p.m. ET
For people with mental and substance use disorders returning to the community after incarceration, receiving validated assessments inside the prison or jail, coordinated transition planning, and linkages to community-based care and services can decrease the likelihood of negative outcomes such as re-incarceration, hospitalization, and medically non-emergent emergency department use. The APIC model provides a conceptual framework for criminal justice and behavioral health systems to design reentry programming that supports continuity of care and reduces the likelihood of recidivism. This webinar will cover the key components of the APIC model and highlight jurisdictions that are implementing these components in local reentry programming.

Innovative Programming for Veterans in the Criminal Justice System (webinar)
Veterans who are incarcerated have unique needs for services, which often include behavioral health treatment. In response, some correctional facilities have developed programming tailored for veterans in their facilities and have curated partnerships with justice programs in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affair’s Veterans Health Administration to better serve them. This webinar will focus on the programming developed specifically for veterans in two jurisdictions—the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office in Massachusetts and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department in California—and explain how these jurisdictions developed partnerships with their Veterans Affairs resources and other entities in their criminal justice systems. There will be time for questions and answers at the end of the webinar.
Date: Thursday, June 6 Time: 2–3:30 p.m. ET Register Here
