Do you know someone who
would love to help others in recovery reach their goals and build on their
success? Encourage them to begin a year of service this fall at MN Department
of Corrections!
MN DOC Reentry Services is proud to have been awarded a Minnesota Recovery
Corps member beginning this fall. Minnesota Recovery Corps is a new program
designed specifically with direct or indirect experience in recovery to serve
other individuals who are trying to sustain their own recovery. This person is
not a sponsor or counselor, but a trained AmeriCorps member and mentor who
understands the journey of recovery. They will focus on helping individuals
reach their goals that can help build and sustain the great experiences that a
life in recovery can bring.
I need your help now to recruit
an individual for this opening! My goal is to fill this position by the end
of August to ensure they’re ready to start serving our clients. In addition
to extensive training, the member will receive on-site support and oversight
from a site supervisor.
Members come from many
backgrounds and experiences, including those who are on their own recovery
journey. In return for their service, members earn a living allowance,
educational award, federal student loan forbearance, and other benefits.
Positive social
supports impact the success of men and women releasing from prison settings
into community. Through the support of a recovery navigator as an addition to
our Reentry Services Unit, we can increase transition success of participating
men and women. Increased success means increased public safety and decreases in
recidivism. Our agency (and our state) benefits when men and women have less
frequent or no prison returns.
Please encourage
someone you know to apply online or learn more about the program, position
qualifications, and benefits at www.minnesotarecoverycorps.org For more information about our two openings,
please email Kelley.Heifort@state.mn.us
