African American Babies Coalition

 AABC Community Conversation Training

Date and Time: Friday, December 9, 2016 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Participants must commit to both training days and only need to register once.

A FREE two-day training for African Americans 17 and older, where participants learn from knowledgeable speakers and discuss various topics including Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES’s), historical trauma, facilitating, trauma informed care, and more! Following the training, participants who complete two community conversations of their own will receive a $150 stipend.

ACEs in the Criminal Justice System.

When: December 16th, 9 - 12 

This workshop will explore the link between Adverse Childhood Experiences of individuals and communities that interface with the criminal justice system. 

 

Online registrations will be given first priority, and trainings are free to all current MCCA members. If you are currently an MCCA member, please go to mnmcca.com to sign in and register for the training. If you are not a member, please sign up at mnmcca.com for a membership. A $35 training fee will be due at the time of registration. This annual investment pays for one year of monthly training sessions and your MCCA membership. Free Workshops from St. Paul Youth Services to Advance Racial Equity in the East Metro

At the workshops, you’ll:

  • learn to more effectively connect with youth who need your services the most  
  • identify unexamined rules, behaviors, and conditions in your organization that inadvertently create barriers for youth
  • hear directly from youth of color about what works for them – and what doesn’t
  • hear from leaders who have transformed their organizations from dealing with challenging youth to becoming trusted partners in their lives

  • The workshops are free, but space is limited and registration is required. Suggested limit of 2 attendees per organization.

The Minnesota Department of Administration, on behalf of the Department of Human Services, Minnesota Sex Offender Program (“MSOP”) is issuing this Request for Information (“RFI”) to gather information on the availability to lease rooms, apartments, existing or newly constructed single family homes and small multi-plex buildings to provide housing to individuals who are civilly committed to the Commissioner of Human Services for sex offender treatment under Minn. Stat. § 253D, and are court ordered to live in a residential setting in the community under provisional discharge.

This RFI will remain open until 2:30 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2017.

Transit Assistance Program (TAP) offers $1 rides

Ride for $1 per trip – including transfers – until April 10, 2017!

Qualified low-income residents of the Twin Cities: Ride more for less through the new Transit Assistance Program (TAP).

How the pilot program works

  1. Household member ages 13-64 – not including college students, seniors or persons with disabilities – are eligible to participate in the test program that will offer discounted transit rides, on any bus (express or non-express) or train at any times of day.  For those not eligible, other programs may apply.
  2. Ride all regional buses and light rail for $1, transfers included.
  3. On Northstar, your card will deduct $1 for the first $3 of the fare.  Additional surcharges will be deducted based on distance.
  4. You can add value online, at any Go-To Card outlet (including all Cub Food stores) or any rail ticket machine.

This pilot program will run for six months (one card per Certified ID).

Hurry – a limited number of cards are available! Participants receive a new TAP Go-To Card with $5 of ride value. That’s five rides for FREE, so don’t wait to sign up!  Those who already have a registered Go-To Card can transfer their balance to a TAP card to take advantage of the discount.

You’ll need to agree to take a pre-pilot and post-pilot survey about your experience and register your Go-To Card against loss or theft (registration is free).  To speed up your enrollment process, print out and complete the Go-To Card Registration and pre-pilot survey.

Once you have your card, you can add value online, Go-To Card outlets (including all Cub Foods stores), rail ticket machines or by enrolling in our Auto Refill program
