In recognition of Veterans Day on Friday Nov. 11, the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs is compiling a list of Veterans Day events around the state. Community organizers statewide are encouraged to submit event information to MDVA by Oct. 30 to be included on our website, social media, and distributed to media throughout Minnesota.

    The Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance is offering Lunch and Learn Seminars for Social Workers and Social Service Professionals. Continuing Education Units have been approved by the Board of Social Work and will be available at each seminar. The seminars will begin at 12 p.m. and be held at the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance office in Roseville.

    The RS EDEN Women and Children's Family Center provides a therapeutic environment for women in recovery that is safe, quiet, and family-friendly. Located next to RS EDEN's Men's Program building at 1025 Portland Avenue, this site offers a space uniquely suited to women going through the recovery process. It offers rooms for group meetings, private rooms for individual counseling, a family bathroom with a washer and dryer, outdoor green space, along with stroller parking and a gym for activities.

    Cass County/Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Wellness Court (Walker, MN) Rated "Promising"

    A post-sentencing, driving-while-intoxicated (DWI) court intended to guide individuals identified as drug- or alcohol-addicted into treatment, which is designed to reduce criminal behavior and recidivism, enhance public safety, and enhance the well-being of program participants.

    This program is rated Promising. Results suggest that after 2 years, DWI court graduates and participants were significantly less likely to be rearrested than non-DWI court participants.

    Save the Date- The 2016 Human Rights Symposium

    The 2016 Human Rights Symposium, hosted by the Department of Human Rights, is a full-day symposium that provides relevant information on the latest issues and legal decisions that impact you and your work. The HR symposium will include breakout sessions, extended networking activities and key issues such as: Diversity and Inclusion Strategies, Police and Community Relations, Civic Engagement, Voting rights, Disability and Employment, Recent U.S. Supreme Court Decisions, Equal Pay and Wage Equity, Pregnancy Accommodations, and MDHR Case Studies in Enforcement.


    Transit Assistance Program (TAP) offers $1 rides

    Ride for $1 per trip – including transfers – until April 10, 2017!

    Qualified low-income residents of the Twin Cities: Ride more for less through the new Transit Assistance Program (TAP).

    How the pilot program works

    1. Household member ages 13-64 – not including college students, seniors or persons with disabilities – are eligible to participate in the test program that will offer discounted transit rides, on any bus (express or non-express) or train at any times of day.  For those not eligible, other programs may apply.
    2. Ride all regional buses and light rail for $1, transfers included.
    3. On Northstar, your card will deduct $1 for the first $3 of the fare.  Additional surcharges will be deducted based on distance.
    4. You can add value online, at any Go-To Card outlet (including all Cub Food stores) or any rail ticket machine.

    This pilot program will run for six months (one card per Certified ID).

    Hurry – a limited number of cards are available! Participants receive a new TAP Go-To Card with $5 of ride value. That’s five rides for FREE, so don’t wait to sign up!  Those who already have a registered Go-To Card can transfer their balance to a TAP card to take advantage of the discount.

    You’ll need to agree to take a pre-pilot and post-pilot survey about your experience and register your Go-To Card against loss or theft (registration is free).  To speed up your enrollment process, print out and complete the Go-To Card Registration and pre-pilot survey.

    Once you have your card, you can add value online, Go-To Card outlets (including all Cub Foods stores), rail ticket machines or by enrolling in our Auto Refill program
