Minnesota Recovery Connection’s annual Walk for Recovery is a way to celebrate recovery, show your support, generate hope, reduce stigma and offer living proof that recovery is real! All proceeds will help us continue our mission to strengthen the recovery community through peer-to-peer support, public education, and advocacy.

Community HIV Testing Events – Free and Open to the Public

Saturday, August 20: African Health Action will host their 5th Annual Community Health Fair from 12-5 p.m. at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park, 10360 West River Rd, Brooklyn Park, MN

Rural AIDS Action Network (RAAN) will be at the following greater Minnesota Pride festivals:

Education and Community Outreach - Brain Injury Basics

Registration is required. All classes take place in the Education Center at the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance. A $5 donation is appreciated from individuals with brain injury, family members and friends; the fee per session is $25 for professionals. Lunch and Learn Seminars for Social Workers
and Social Service Professionals

The Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance is offering Lunch and Learn Seminars for Social Workers and Social Service Professionals. Continuing Education Units have been approved by the Board of Social Work and will be available at each seminar. The seminars will begin at 12 p.m. and be held at the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance office in Roseville.

September 13 - Brain Injury & Epilepsy
October 12 - Somali Culture and their Perspective on Brain Injury
November 16 - Behaviors or Symptoms

Walk for Thought Online Registration Now Open
The 2016 Walk for Thought will take place on Saturday, September 17 at the Duluth Lakewalk in Duluth, Silver Lake in Rochester, CentraCare Health Plaza in Saint Cloud, and at Long Lake Regional Park in New Brighton in the Twin Cities.

Celebrate the strengths and successes of the thousands of individuals who have experience brain injury, along with their families, friends and the professionals who work with them at this year's Walk for Thought.

Minnesota Family Support and Recovery Council (MFSRC) Annual Conference!

October 2 -5, 2016 at the Best Western Kelly Inn, St. Cloud

Greetings from the Conference Planning Committee!  We have an exciting conference agenda coming soon, and we are confident that you will be as excited as we are about the sessions and speakers for the October 2-5, 2016, MFSRC Annual Training Conference!        

For the 2016 conference  the rates will be:

Early Bird Full Conference - $120  (was $115) + the daily $35 fee (Total of $190)

Regular Full Conference - $170 (was $165) + the daily $35 fee (Total of $240)

Hotel - $89 per night (was $83)

Each year at our MFSRC conference, we seek nominations for individuals or groups in the areas of Child Support and Collections who will be recognized during our conference. Please help us by submitting your nominations early! The MFSRC Awards Committee would like to take this early opportunity to ask that you start thinking about your nomination(s) for our 2016 MFSRC Conference. Our nominations deadline is the end of August which will creep up on us before we know it.

To submit a nomination, please go to our website at www.MFSRC.org. There, you will find the award categories and their descriptions to help you determine which category your nominee(s) would fit into. Once you have completed your Letter of Recommendation and nomination form, please submit it to Richard.Thielman@co.Ramsey.mn.us.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development will be holding informational sessions on the 2017 Workforce Housing Development Program. This program targets communities in Greater Minnesota where a shortage of housing makes it difficult for businesses to attract the workers they need. Applications will be due November 10th, 2016.

Woodridge House provides permanent supportive sober housing for women only. The furnished home has 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with 2 common living spaces, non-coin operated laundry, and a huge backyard. Street parking is available.

Rents range from $350-$550 which includes utilities. Utilities include electricity, gas, water/sewer, garbage/recycling, basic cable. Security deposits range from $300-$400.

Freemont House

Freemont house is a permanent supportive sober housing solution. It is a tri-plex that features two 2-bedroom, 1 bath apartments, and one efficiency apartment. It also has coin operated laundry, separate entrances, backyard and off street parking.

Rents range from $600-$1000 (or $500 per bedroom in the 2-br units). All units are unfurnished and do not include utilities. Tenant is responsible for electricity, water, gas, and rubbish removal. Security deposit is equal to one month rent.
