Trainings and Workshops!
Moving On is a gender responsive intervention program for women involved in the criminal justice system. The Program can be delivered in both institutional and community corrections settings. Moving On provides women with alternatives to criminal activity by helping them identify and mobilize personal community resources. The program encourages personal responsibility, enhances motivation for change, expands connections by building healthy relationships, enhances skills and provides skills for stress management. Ramsey County Community Corrections is hosting a training for corrections professionals interested in becoming facilitators of the Moving On curriculum. This four day training will provide information on the philosophy and guiding principles behind the development of the Moving On program as well as detailed instructions on the facilitation of the six curriculum modules. Each selected participant is expected to purchase their own curriculum materials available through Hazelden publishing. Event will be held 9 -11:30 a.m. in the auditorium at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. Open to all Veterans. No registration required. VA Announces Community Care Call Center to Help Veterans with Choice Program Billing Issues
Veterans can now work directly with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to resolve debt collection issues resulting from inappropriate or delayed Choice Program billing. A Community Care Call Center has been set up for Veterans experiencing adverse credit reporting or debt collection resulting from inappropriately billed Choice Program claims. Veterans experiencing these problems can call 1-877-881-7618 for assistance and press 1 at the prompt.

Minnesota Humanities Center Accepting Nominations for 2016 Veterans’ Voices AwardVeterans Voices is a statewide program of the Humanities Center that draws on the power of the humanities to call attention to the stories and contributions of Veterans, giving an authentic voice to the Veteran experience through play, art discussion groups, and the Veterans’ Voices Award. The Humanities Center invites nominations of candidates who fall into one of two categories: On the Rise (40 and under) or Legacy (over 40). The Veterans’ Voices Award honors actively engaged former and current military service members who are thriving and making significant, positive contributions that improve the lives of people across Minnesota. Award nominations will be accepted today through June 3, 2016. These Awards will be presented at the Veterans’ Voices Award Ceremony to be held at the Anderson Student Center on the campus of St. Thomas University in St. Paul on September 11, 2016.
Nominations must include answers to questions detailing a candidate’s contributions and reasons they exemplify the mission and values of the Humanities Center. Office of Justice Programs (OJP)- Tribal Reservation-based Crime Victim ServicesThe purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to solicit applications for funding to provide direct services to crime victims on Tribal reservations in Minnesota.
Applicants may apply for the 12-month grant period of October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017. It is anticipated successful applicants may apply for renewal applications in the subsequent 3-4 years until the next competitive grant process.
All applications must be submitted via E-grants, the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) online grants management system. Applications must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on June 7, 2016.
The Practitioner-Researcher Partnership in Cognitive Behavioral Mentoring Program will support the development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative mentoring approaches for youth at high risk for delinquency/juvenile and criminal justice involvement or victimization and trauma. These mentoring approaches must incorporate practices that are informed by research on cognitive behavioral interventions and techniques. The program will fund a partnership between a practitioner/service provider and an evaluator/researcher. Practitioner/service provider applicants should develop and implement cognitive behavioral-informed practices within existing mentoring programs. These new or enhanced approaches should be piloted, manualized, and implemented with a diverse target population (defined as populations that differ demographically and/or in implementation setting). Researcher applicants should design a rigorous evaluation that examines the program design, implementation fidelity and process, and program impact. OJJDP expects the practitioner and researcher to work closely throughout the application and program development, implementation, and evaluation.
