Hello Chanhassen Residents,
This is my first email since the 4th of July extravaganza, so I would be remiss if I did not thank our amazing city team for creating another year of unforgettable moments and memories. The countless hours of planning resulted in a perfectly executed event. I am always so proud and appreciative of the talented team we have and how well our community is highlighted at our annual event. Thank you to our city staff, fire department and police for an amazing job.
Around Town
I’d like to again acknowledge some of the frustration felt by residents due to both road construction and fiber installations. We recognize it can feel intrusive and inconvenient, but the goal remains to have quality infrastructure around the city. While the city manages our road projects, the fiber installation only goes through the city for the permitting process. The city cannot deny access to the utility easements; however, we can ensure that restoration is completed to your satisfaction. If it is not, please contact the relevant company, as it is the responsibility of the installer to complete:
You can also access a Fiber Buildout Status Viewer Map that we've put together that lets you track activity in your area, including current updates and restoration details.
Chanhassen Bluffs Community Center
At Monday’s Work Session, City Council was given an update by BKV Group, the project's architecture firm, which included cost estimates and design updates. We were disappointed to learn the overall price of the facility was significantly over the $80 million budgeted for this project. The City Council asked questions but unanimously said that our expectation is to stay within budget while maintaining the programming that was presented to our residents. We asked the team to regroup and reset and return to City Council with a plan that aligns with the feedback given and the commitment we made to our residents. To receive updates on the Community Center, please follow this link.
Night to Unite
Night to Unite is coming up on August 5. If you have not signed up with the city, please do so here. We are also having a friendly competition with our neighboring communities — Chaska, Victoria and Carver. Our goal is to collect non-perishable food items or monetary donations for Bountiful Basket Food Shelf. Whether your neighborhood has a party or you simply want to donate, please coordinate with Chanhassen Firefighter Daisy Anderson to set up collection. Let’s give our neighbors one more reason to know that Chanhassen is the best city in Carver County!
I am always happy to answer any questions or hear your thoughts. Please contact me at eryan@chanhassenmn.gov
Warmest regards, Elise Ryan eryan@chanhassenmn.gov
