Hello Chanhassen Residents
I hope that you are off to a great start in 2025. It is going to be a busy year for the city and we hit the ground running Monday with the swearing in of incumbent councilmembers Haley Schubert and Josh Kimber.
Thank You
Along with their council duties, our councilmembers represent the city in various other roles, so I wanted to say thank you to:
- Jerry McDonald and Josh Kimber for serving on the SW Transit Commission
- Haley Schubert for serving on the Chanhassen Fire Relief Association
- Mark von Oven for serving as acting mayor at meetings or events I am unable to attend
I am optimistic about the demanding, but exciting, work ahead of us. We are committed to maintaining a high standard of communication and engagement with our residents and businesses, recognizing the significant impact our decisions have on them. We take extraordinary pride in serving you and we thank you for your continued interest and engagement with Chanhassen.
Get Involved
I invite you to apply for one of our city commissions openings. Commissioners provide invaluable feedback and insight to the city council and are representatives of the many voices within our community. The five commissions are: Planning, Park & Recreation, Economic Development, Environmental and the Commission on Aging. You do not need previous experience and we welcome all applicants.
Civic Campus
Construction of the new city hall is well underway. The building is scheduled to be completed by August of this year and will include the Senior Center, Administrative Offices, City Council Chambers and Police & Fire Offices. The next phase of this project will consist of the construction of new park amenities, including the park building and performance stage, playground and water fountains, as well as pickleball courts, a skate park, open spaces and trails. Phase 2 will begin late summer/early fall of 2025, with the project slated for completion during the summer of 2026.
Chanhassen Bluffs Community Center
The City Council approved the publication of a Request for Qualification (RFQ) from firms interested in providing architectural and engineering services to the city for the Chanhassen Bluffs Community Center. This is the first step in designing and planning for the construction of the new community center. Throughout this process, we will again engage with our residents and collect feedback. The goal is to break ground in the spring of 2026.
Annual Road Projects
Local road projects are an annual investment in maintaining and improving the city’s infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient transportation for residents and businesses.
In 2025, the following roads are scheduled for construction:
- Frontier Trail (from Big Horn Drive to West 78th Street)
- Highland Drive
- Kiowa Circle
- Conestoga Trail
- Conestoga Court
- Sierra Trail
- Sierra Court
- Del Rio Drive (from Santa Fe Trail to the NE end)
- Iroquois (from Del Rio Drive to Laredo Drive)
Please make sure you sign up for email updates on the project page to stay informed about the proposed scope, assessments and ongoing updates as the projects progress.
Please encourage your neighbors to sign up for the various communication tools we use at the city. Keeping our residents and businesses informed remains a top priority.
