Hello Chanhassen Residents,
August has arrived in a hurry, but there is still plenty of summer to enjoy the outdoors at our parks, lakes, trails, and a stop at our Summer Concert Series at Lake Ann Park.
The work in and around the city continues with our Civic Campus project, our various road construction projects in neighborhoods and along Galpin Blvd. Please make sure you are subscribed to the various pages on our website to receive project updates.
Highway 5 Closure
A significant closure along Highway 5 is starting August 12th. Please visit the Carver County website for an overview of the closure. According to the County, “the road will be closed and traffic detoured starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, August 12 until 10 p.m. on Sunday, August 18. Please allow for extra travel time and follow the posted detour route using Highway 13, Highway 7, and Highway 41.“
On July 17, the bond rating agency Standard & Poor’s (S&P) once again affirmed Chanhassen’s ‘AAA’ bond rating with a stable outlook, meaning they do not expect the rating to change in the next two years. ‘AAA’ is the highest bond rating available to a municipality. Only 27 Minnesota cities have received this highest rating.
Thank you to the many residents who attended the Minnewashta Parkway meeting on Monday. We heard your feedback and will be discussing next steps at our August 12th City Council meeting.
I have received emails inquiring about the latest update on Avienda, the mixed-use development at Hwy 212 and Powers Blvd. Since approving a final plat for rowhomes to be built by Charles Cudd Co. in March, the city has not recieved any additional development applications. The city is eager for the announcement of a grocery store as we understand that once there is that commitment, the retail and restaurants will closely follow. As I learn more, I will share it with you.
Today’s email was intended to touch base and keep an open line of communication. As always, please email me at eryan@chanhassenmn.gov.
Warmest Regards,
Elise Ryan
