Dear Chanhassen Residents,
Yesterday, September 11th, we observed twenty-two years in remembrance to honor those who lost their lives, those who survived, and the many heroes of that day - police, fire, members of our military, and the everyday heroes who bravely served their communities, picking up the pieces of a loss so profound.
As we look back, reflecting on our own memories of that day, we remember that we came together as a nation, united in pride for our country and the resilience we would have as Americans. We often hear the phrase "Never Forget" and in doing so we will always remember the significance of that day and the incredible acts of heroism.
At last night's City Council meeting, we were joined by our Chanhassen Firefighters and Carver County Deputies, who are committed to service and are willing to run towards danger just as the brave heroes did on 9/11. We thank them for their service to our community. I was proud to see the Chanhassen ladder truck at full extension with the American flag waving high over our city. I am proud to be an American and to have witnessed the bravery and selflessness shown by so many on September 11, 2001.
We observed a moment of silence to remember the fallen, their families, and the many heroes who gave their life in service. If you didn't have the same opportunity yesterday, I invite you to take a moment today. We don't forget. We won't forget. We will never forget.
In gratitude,
Elise Ryan Mayor
