Dear Chanhassen Residents,
Please see below for an update on the many projects, events, and timelines ahead.
Civic Campus
At the City Council Work Session last week, City Council selected an architect for our City Hall and subsequent park building (concession, bathrooms, meeting space). We interviewed three finalists and chose the architectural firm BKV Group. We will confirm the contract at our City Council meeting on May 22. While this is the first of many steps, please note additional information and dates for community engagement:
- Focus Groups with Senior Center patrons: June 2023
- Surveys seeking feedback about the Park Building’s desired uses: Summer 2023
- Open House to review renderings and preliminary layouts: September 2023
- Final plans approved (City Council), Seek Bids: Winter 2023-24
- Construction begins: May 2024
2023 Street Projects
Two seasons: winter and construction season? Yes! While we continue pothole filling around the city, our street projects are as follows:
Memorial Day Ceremony
Each Memorial Day, American Legion Post 580 hosts a special ceremony at the Veterans Monument in City Center Park. It is a wonderful event honoring those who selflessly and honorably gave their lives to this great nation. Please join us on Monday, May 29 at noon.
Dog Days of Summer
While we are nowhere near the true “dog days of summer,” I have been hearing from residents regarding leash laws and cleanup. Just a friendly reminder that your dogs must be on leashes on our trails and in our parks. Additionally, please be diligent about picking up after your dog. Thank you!
Please connect with me if you have any questions or comments that you would like to share at eryan@chanhassenmn.gov. Enjoy the warm weather!
Warmest Regards, Elise Ryan
