Register by June 18 for SOS: Successful Marketing Strategies on Written Communication

  • July 2, 9-10:30 a.m. – Registration is now open until June 18. Register for the training here.
    • Successful Marketing Strategies on Written Communication: Learn time-saving tips for writing that targets specific audiences and specific delivery vehicles — from flyers, emails and mailings to news releases and social media posts. Geared toward non-writers working in small organizations without communications staffers, the session will focus on the basics of effective writing — including suggestions about what to say and how to say it. Ann Wessel, a BWSR information officer with a journalism background, will offer examples and templates.

Tyler Knutson

New Staff: Welcome Tyler Knutson!

Tyler Knutson joined BWSR on June 5 as the Southern Region Training Conservationist working out of the Marshall office.

Tyler grew up in Granite Falls, Minnesota. He lives there with wife, Jenny and daughters, Josephine and Amelia. He serves as Rescue Captain on the Granite Falls Fire Department.

Tyler graduated Ridgewater College with a technical diploma in GPS/GIS Technology in Agriculture. After some agricultural internships, he started with the Yellow Medicine Soil and Water Conservation District in 2013 as a Farm Bill Technician. After several years of technical work, he assumed the role of SWCD Director in 2020. Tyler has been a member of the Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts Legislative Committee and graduated from the MASWCD Leadership Institute in 2018. He has also served on the Area Technical Training Team, Employee’s Association Board, and several BWSR and MASWCD projects or workgroups.

Tyler is excited to use his SWCD background to serve with the Technical Training and Certification Program team, and provide for technical staff seeking JAA and broadening skillsets.
