SOS: Successful Marketing Strategies for Selling Conservation — Register by May 20

  • May 29, 9-10:30 a.m. – Online Training – Register here: Successful Outreach Strategies: Successful Marketing Strategies for Selling Conservation | Cognito Forms
    • Successful Marketing Strategies for Selling Conservation: Learn the basics of marketing conservation programs in this session geared toward small organizations that may not have dedicated marketing and communications staff. The Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources’ (BWSR) Communications Coordinator Mary Juhl will cover marketing basics such as tailoring content to specific audiences, plain language tips and effective ways to streamline content creation. This training will include overviews of tools and resources your organization can use to make your marketing efforts faster, simpler, and more effective.
  • Hold the NEW Date: July 2, 9-10:30 a.m. – Topic on Written Communication. More information in late May when registration will open. (Note: rescheduled from June)

Native Plant Community and Plant ID Training

Register now to check out these beauties in person! These and other unique and beautiful plants will be found at Twin Lakes WMA Native Plant Community and Plant ID training, near Karlstad on June 25, 2024. Spots are still available to join this expert led session to hone your plant identification skills and learn more about Minnesota’s native plant community classification system. Register here

Save the Date: Irrigation RCPP Technical Training Workshop

A two-day technical irrigation training workshop will take place on July 22-23, 2024 at Central Lakes College in Staples, MN. The workshop will include classroom presentations, hands-on exercises and in-field demonstrations. Participants will learn about irrigation, associated NRCS Conservation Practice Standards, and certification of irrigation practices: Sprinkler System 442, Irrigation Water Management 449 and Pumping Plant 533. Registration for the workshop will become available soon.

Save the Date: 2024 Conservation Planning Course

The weeklong Conservation Planning Course will be held at the West Central Research and Outreach Center in Morris from July 29 through August 2. If your goal is to become a Level III Conservation Planner, set aside this week on your calendar to attend this course. It is an intensive week of hands on training, assessing resources on several landuses and working through the nine steps of conservation planning on a family farm. There are significant hours of prerequisites for this course and if you plan on attending in July you should get started on them now. You can find a list of prerequisites here. Registration will be open soon!

2024 Shared Training Calendar

An updated working version of the 2024 training calendar is now available. This 12 month view of training offerings is regularly updated and provides information about upcoming training events, including potential dates and locations. Please see the legend at the top and note that the further out a training is proposed the more likely adjustments will need to be made. The dates, locations, and other details are always tentative until the event is posted on the Training Calendar.
