BWSR Academy was held at Cragun’s Conference Center near Brainard on Oct. 25-27. One comment shared by an attendee was “Can feel the excitement to be back in person.” Over the three days, 65 training sessions were held with over 130 trainers offering their time and expertise. More than 425 people attended over the three days, with many sharing positive comments throughout the Academy. Feedback from the survey included “The schedule was good and the variety of topics. Probably one of my most fruitful Academies yet.” The interactive focus on sessions is also appreciated by attendees, as one shared “BWSR Academy went very well, event was well organized. I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed the sessions this year as presenters were much more engaging and interactive rather than PowerPoint lectures.” A huge THANK YOU to all the BWSR staff who assisted behind the scenes with registration, materials development, logistics, session selection and trainer recruitment. Yet it all begins with our LGU partners and others who provide suggestions on timely sessions to be offered. The success of Academy truly is a collaborative effort!

Basic Hydrology Training
The Technical Training and Certification Program is offering Basic Hydrology training as an online webinar on January 10 at 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. and January 12 at 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Participants should attend both sessions to complete the course. This course was given virtually in January 2022 and in-person in July 2022.
This training will cover the basic concept of determining hydrology for common conservation practices. We will review concepts such as runoff, curve numbers, peak discharges, and hydrographs. Students will learn about reading contour maps and delineating watersheds through example problems. By the end of the two sessions, students should be able to delineate a watershed and be able to obtain the values needed to determine a peak discharge from the delineated watershed using EFH2.
There is a prerequisite video as well as practice homework to be completed between the two sessions.
