Team Building
Effective teams need a supportive environment. This includes a leader who encourages members to think like a team, gives them adequate time for team meetings, and demonstrates faith in their ability to succeed. Creating a high performing team does not happen overnight. Leaders must rely on the process of team building. One strategy for team building is to incorporate team building activities into your time together. One resource is “The Big Book of Team Building Games” by John Newstrom and Edward Scannell.

BWSR Regional Wetland Trainings
In 2018, BWSR wetland staff began offering regional wetland trainings for local government staff and technical evaluation panel members. These regional trainings allow for a more hands-on approach to applying technical, administrative, and regulatory procedures for wetlands in Minnesota.
Offering regional trainings allows for a customized training based on the location and possible field trips as part of the training. Training participants have appreciated this new approach. As one attendee put it, “This has been the most pertinent training for what we do as LGUs.”
The next regional training is scheduled for September 30-Octtober 1 in Cloquet, MN. For more information check BWSR's website.

The Technical Training IDP tool is up and running!
On September 10, the TTCP partnership rolled out the new Individual Development Planning (IDP) tool. The tool is designed to help NRCS, SWCD and TSA staff create IDPs, request training, document credentials and certifications, and locate potential sources of on the job training.
The IDP Tool page of the BWSR website is full of information about the tool, how you can use it, and what the benefits are for users. We've posted recordings of last week's webinars, as well as user guidance and frequently asked questions.
Be sure to get your information entered by October 11, 2020 if you want your training needs included in the requests for 2020 training opportunities.
