BWSR
is happy to announce the 2018 BWSR Academy will be held October 29-31, 2018, at Breezy Point Conference Center near
Brainerd. Online registration will begin in mid-August. Future updates will be
posted on the BWSR Academy webpage.
NEW
IN 2018!
BWSR
Academy will no longer have a Wetlands track and will offer fewer
wetland-specific training sessions compared to past years. The BWSR Wetland
Section will be implementing a more regional training approach in 2018 that
will continue to provide training on Wetland Conservation Act (WCA)
implementation while allowing WCA LGU staff to take advantage of a wider
variety of sessions at Academy. Look for more information on regional WCA
training in the near future.

Session information similar to upcoming July session.)
In December’s Two Minute Trainer, we talked about the use of
a resource handout to create space during a training for engaging the
participant in their learning.This helps
with learning retention. According The Bob Pike Group “Webinars With WOW
Factor” here are three guiding principles for creating handouts:
Keep the font to no more than two styles and no
more than two sizes Why?Too many font styles and sizes can distract from the content being
shared.
Number the pages Why? During the training, it is much easier
to direct the participant to certain content if the pages are numbered.
Divide the handout into sections Why? Sections can provide a guide for where to
find certain information.A suggestion
is to entitle sections “Need to Know,” and “Nice to Know,” along with an
Appendix section and Resource section.Within the “Need to Know” and “Nice to Know,” depending on the content,
it may be helpful to have sub-sections.
