Burnsville at MHTA Conference

 

The Burnsville STHEM Alliance efforts will once again be on display at the MHTA conference on May 6th.  The City will be at booth 303, please come see us if you attend the conference.   The annual Spring Conference attracts between 1000 and 1500 high tech professionals each year.  It has been a beneficial exhibit to showcase Burnsville’s efforts in years past.

Ebenezer Ridges Care Center received the highest rating of five stars in the 2014 edition of Best Nursing Homes by U.S. News and World Report.  Congratulations on another top award for Ebenezer Ridges!  


Inver Hills

Inver Hills CC Has New Online Magazine

 

Inver Hills Community College, which recently began to share space with the WorkForce Center at 2800 County Road 42 now, has an online magazine.   Stay up to date on the happenings of a college that has been rated one of the top five best for veterans at https://ezine.inverhills.edu.


Burnsville High Science Students Compete

Once again, Burnsville High School students were selected to attend both the International Sustainable World Energy, Engineering, Environment Project Olympiad (ISWEEP) and the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) after presenting their research at the Twin Cities Regional Science Fair.

Sophomore Jason Ung qualified to attend and present his project, titled “The Effects of New and Used Oil on the Production of Biodiesel,” at ISWEEP in Houston, Texas, on May 8-10. Along with presenting his work and competing with top science students from around the world, Ung will have an opportunity to meet and speak with top scientists in the fields of energy, engineering and the environment.

Sophomore Maedin Abegaz and seniors Chris Santilli and Ryan Kibler qualified as alternates to ISEF, which will be held May 11-16 in Los Angeles.

 

The Burnsville STHEM Alliance is a focused economic development initiative to promote the expansion and growth of the City's existing industry clusters based on science, technology, healthcare, engineering and math.

Bloomberg Technologies ranked Minnesota as the 10th most innovative state.  No other upper Midwest state cracked the top 20.  The rankings were based on; number of STEM professionals, science and tech degree holders, utility patents, state government R& D spending, gross state product per employed person, 3 year change in productivity, and public tech companies.  

 

Finance &Commerce recently noted that all 19 of Minnesota’s Fortune 500 companies started in Minnesota.
