Welcome to our Updated Newsletter

In 2019, the City undertook a branding exercise and You Belong Here was born.  "You Belong Here" speaks to the fact that Burnsville is a welcoming, diverse and neighborly community.

With that in mind, we decided to freshen up this newsletter and expand the audience to the wider Burnsville business community. Our time as Burnsville Commercial Real Estate Council (BCREC) has ended, but we are still here to communicate with and support you.

The monthly property blast will still be sent and a list of properties will be maintained on our website- because Opportunity Belongs Here! 

Our expanded newsletter will now include pertinent information about the community and the City for all Burnsville stakeholders. Please share this newsletter with your colleagues.

We are OPEN for Building

City of Burnsville Building Inspections is open for business and here to serve you. Most permits can be applied for here.  

We are inspecting all commercial projects while practicing social distancing and following CDC guidelines.

We are also providing residential roof and decks inspections. In some cases, we can use video chat or other technology to complete other needed inspections.  

Staff are available to schedule inspections, answer your questions and review your permit at 952-895-4444 or permits@burnsvillemn.gov.

Meet the New Economic Development Coordinator

Jamie Scheffer joined the Burnsville team in January 2020 as the Economic Development Coordinator. She brings experience in economic development, planning, zoning, grant writing and marketing. 

Previously, she served as the Community Development Coordinator for the City of St. James, Minn.

Scheffer says she is most excited about working with and getting to know local business owners.

Seeking Businesses for Cross-Promotions

As part of the new “You Belong Here”  Marketing and Communications Plan the City is looking to partner with Burnsville businesses to help spread the message.

Recent examples include a social media campaign and snowboard package prize giveaway with Buck Hill and a "You Belong Here" cinnamon roll special at JoJo’s Rise and Wine.

These partnerships leverage marketing from both organizations and result in positive outcomes impressions for both parties.
