The Brooklyn Bridge Alliance for Youth is Modifying our Practices to Aid in the Efforts to Support Public Health during COVID-19. We see this as a critical time to understand the challenges youth, families and our community face and to respond to these needs by sharing information and taking action.
As of today, Alliance staff will be working remotely and will be using social distancing practices for select meetings. This means:
- We will shift to phone calls or teleconferencing whenever possible – but we will continue to engage our community so they are connected during this difficult time.
- We will continue with small group meetings as they are needed.
- We will hold them in larger rooms,
- Sanitizing hard surfaces before and after each meeting,
- Use every other chair seating (6 feet) and
- Make sure that all guests can teleconference if they prefer.
- We have cancelled all out of state travel.
- Lastly, we will all be following basic health protocols recommended by the CDC.
The Brooklyn Bridge Alliance for Youth is doing our part to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus by practicing social distancing and supporting the broader public health efforts. And, we will advance our mission to coordinate a system that supports young peoples safety and well-being with the following actions:
Action underway:
- We are creatively re-imagining how youth engagement and participation looks like, and will work with the Brooklyns Youth Council to do so.
- We are reaching out to youth and families to build a communication pathway to understand their emerging needs.
- We will share information on how to be safe and well See Tips for taking care of your mental health and well-being during social isolation.
- We are gathering and sharing resources youth and families may need. Look for updates to www.brooklysconnect.org in the coming days.
- We will support the work our partners are doing (Cities, Schools and Colleges) as they re-design, re-structure and respond to the needs of students and families.
- Please call any Alliance staff member if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Gilgen
