The American Dream: From the Light to the Darkness

The Bloomington Human Rights Commission, along with Bloomington Public Health, Hennepin County Library and the faith community, are sponsoring a Children of Immigrants Art Exhibit.  titled The American Dream: From the Light to the Darkness.

Children and youth of immigrants who live in our community were asked to express their fears and anxieties through artwork and written word. An estimated (200) drawings, poems and letters were created. After viewing and reading the work of the children and youth, the Commission, along with several community organizations, wanted to find a way to share the impact and power of the pictures, poems and letters.

The artwork and written works were curated by the children and youth. Parents chose the name of the exhibit and assisted in making a video which will accompany the Exhibit when it is displayed at various community locations.

You can see the exhibit at the locations below. If you wish to have the exhibit come to a community location near you, contact the Bloomington Human Rights Commission at (952)-563-8733 or humanrights@BloomingtonMN.gov.
