Bloomington Ice Garden Advances in National Contest

Bloomington has advanced to round two in the Kraft Hockeyville USA 2017 national contest. The Bloomington Ice Garden (BIG) has been selected as one of four semifinalists in the running to receive $150,000 in rink improvements and to host a 2017/2018 NHL preseason game.

In the first round of voting, BIG collected enough votes to compete in the second-round western bracket against Bloomington, IL. Voting will take place Tuesday, April 18 and Wednesday, April 19. If BIG wins enough votes to advance to the third and final round, it will take on the winner of the eastern region—Belle Vernon, PA or Geneseo, NY.

To cast your round two votes on April 18 and 19, visit https://www.krafthockeyville.com. You can cast up to 101 votes per day through a combination of website clicks, tweets and text messages:

• Visit the Hockeyville website and click on the Bloomington Ice Garden. Follow the instructions to log in, then click the "Vote" button (up to 50 times per day). 
• Visit the Hockeyville website and click  the "Tweet" button to vote via Twitter (one time per day). 
• Use a two-way-text-messaging-capable device and text the applicable Finalist Submission's keyword, available on the Hockeyville website during the voting period, to 35350 (up to 50 times per day).

Because Bloomington has made it to the second round of the contest, it is guaranteed $25,000 in rink improvements. In round three, one community will claim the grand prize of $150,000. The runner-up will receive $75,000 toward arena upgrades.
