the winning projects.
Project Focus
Here are the
winning projects from last year’s Governor’s Better Government Awards:
Enhancing resident lives through Music & Memory – Department of Veterans Affairs (Minnesota Veterans Home – Luverne)
The Music and Memory program at the Minnesota Veterans Home – Luverne uses iPod technology and personalized playlists for residents to help with relaxation, decreased agitation, and increased socialization for residents. __________________________________________________________________
“I am Revenue” Inclusion Campaign – Department of Revenue
The Department of Revenue launched a campaign to enhance the department’s culture of inclusion by creating an environment where everyone’s unique skills, talents, and abilities were recognized, welcomed, and valued within the workplace. The campaign provides opportunities to specifically acknowledge, learn about, and celebrate the many unique characteristics and qualities Revenue employees bring to work as we serve our customers across Minnesota. __________________________________________________________________
Promoting the state as a great place to start and grow your career – Combined effort of: Minnesota Management and Budget, Department of Human Services, Department of Employment and Economic Development, Governor’s Office, Department of Revenue, and Minnesota IT Services
This multi-agency effort used three large events -- Minnesota State Fair, People of Color job fair, and the first ever State of Minnesota Career Fair -- to showcase the state as an employer of choice and attract new applicants, with a particular focus on highlighting opportunities at the state for people of color, people of disabilities, and veterans. __________________________________________________________________
Hydraulics Inspection Vehicle Explorer
(HIVE) – Department of
Transportation
The HIVE
(Hydraulics Inspection Vehicle Explorer) is a low cost, durable remote control
operated camera built from off the shelf parts. It provides better data to
reduce the cost of managing the pipes and culverts under and adjacent to the
state’s roads. Better data results in cost-effective repair decisions at the
right time.
