Frustration Can Lead To Shortcuts

Frustration is the feeling of being upset when you cannot change the current situation.  This irritation or annoyance is often overwhelming and can leave the door wide open for making an error that will result in a work related injury including a slip, trip, or fall.  Have you ever noticed that when you are frustrated, you end up taking a short cut?  I know I have!  Detours, unshoveled walk ways, and road work are some examples of scenarios that can lead to a short cut made in haste.

Here are 5 Tips to Keep Your Frustration Level In Check

  1. STOP!  Take a few deep breaths to calm your mind.
  2. Talk to a friend, coworker, or supervisor about your frustration.
  3. Journal about the frustration.
  4. Focus on what you can do in the present moment.
  5. Seek the help of a professional if frustrations are becoming difficult to manage.
