FY22 Budget Updates and Fall Certification/Reimbursement Requests

On Wednesday, September 29, 2021, Governor Whitmer signed the Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) budget which funds Student Scholarships, Grants and Outreach (SSGO) programs for Academic Year 2021-22. All programs received appropriations, which allow them to remain funded. Below you will find details on Academic Year 2021-22 State Financial Aid Program updates.
FY22 Budget Updates
Children of Veterans Tuition Grant (CVTG)
- No program changes.
- $2,800 annual maximum award.
Fostering Futures Scholarship (FFS)
- No program changes.
- $3,000 annual maximum award.
Futures for Frontliners (F4F)
- No program changes.
Michigan Competitive Scholarship (MCS)
- No program changes.
- $1,000 annual maximum award.
Michigan Reconnect Grant (Reconnect)
- No program changes.
Michigan GEAR UP Scholarship (MI GEAR UP)
- More information to come.
Michigan Tuition Grant (MTG)
- No program changes.
- $2,800 annual maximum award.
Tuition Incentive Program (TIP)
- No program changes.
- Reminder: Phase I annual credit maximum is now 30 credits.

Fall Certification/Reimbursement Requests - Opens Wednesday, October 13, 2021
Institutions may begin certifying awards/requesting reimbursements for the Fall 2021 term/semester on October 13, 2021.
To be included in the 1st quarter payments, awards must be certified, and reimbursements requested by the deadline of 5:00 p.m. on November 16, 2021.
1st quarter payments will be processed beginning on November 17, 2021.
The following State financial aid programs are available in MiSSG and each should be evaluated for student eligibility and payment:
- Children of Veterans Tuition Grant
- Fostering Futures Scholarship
- Futures for Frontliners
- Michigan Competitive Scholarship
- Michigan Reconnect Grant
- Michigan Tuition Grant
- Tuition Incentive Program
Please note:
- Police Officer's and Fire Fighter's Survivor Tuition Grant operates on a different payment cycle. Institutions with eligible students will be contacted separately.
