As we work through this unprecedented national health emergency, I want you to know how much I appreciate your flexibility, responsiveness and focus. It is evident to me that you take your role as a public servant as seriously as I do. I know the changes you’ve embraced this week, whether it was to transition to telework or move into a new workspace to promote social distancing, come with a level of uncertainty. I appreciate your patience as we continue to adapt and implement solutions to best meet our priorities of keeping staff safe and providing fair and efficient service.
For employees remaining in their normal work locations, please know we are doing all we can to ensure your safety. Treasury and DTMB have increased the cleaning regime in all buildings and our administrators have implemented social distancing measures including alternative schedules. We are also looking at various other options based on the balance of employee safety and business need and are working closely with our self-identified vulnerable population (as defined by the CDC), to implement appropriate precautions.
We are expanding telework to additional Treasury employees so that as much of our workforce as possible is teleworking. We hope to have most employees teleworking by Thursday, March 19, and will continue to expand as we can. By implementing expanded telework, there will be fewer employees and guests in our buildings, making it safer for those who will still be working in the facilities.
For teleworkers who do not yet have access to our Virtual Private Network (VPN), you will be set up to receive an access token as soon as possible. Once available you will be asked to come back in to pick up your computer and token. In the meantime, assignments and tasks that do not require connectivity will be distributed. We are asking all employees to be familiar with Treasury’s Telework Guidance. The expectation is that you are working your normal schedule (regardless of location) and are reachable during that time.
More information will be coming from your Bureau Director or Office Administrator.
