More than 1.39 million Michigan voters have cast their ballot one week before the General Election – nearly 20% of all active registered voters

More than 215,000 votes cast at early voting sites throughout the state

LANSING, Mich. – With one week left until General Election Day, Nov. 3, a total of 1,392,170 Michigan voters have already cast their ballot – a turnout rate of 18.8% of all active registered voters in the state. More than 1.1 million voted with a mail (absentee) ballot and over 215,000 cast their ballot at an early voting site.

“Michigan voters are showing enthusiasm for early in-person voting, making the first weekend a great success,” said Deputy Secretary of State Aghogho Edevbie. “Voters are using this convenient option to cast their ballot before polls open on Election Day. I want to thank our state’s dedicated local clerks and poll workers who helped make the success of this past weekend possible.”

Early in-person voting sites opened statewide on Saturday, Oct. 24. As of this morning, a total of 215,795 voters cast a ballot at an early voting site, which includes more than 134,000 voters during the first two days of the statewide early voting period. This is the first midterm statewide general election with early in-person voting available for every Michigan voter. Early voting will continue through Sunday, Nov. 1, for at least eight hours every day. Some communities will offer additional early voting hours on Monday, Nov. 2. Look up your early voting site and times at mi.gov/earlyvoting.

As of 7 a.m. today, Oct. 27, a total of 2,154,870 voters have requested a mail ballot for the General Election, including 2,016,031 on the permanent mail ballot list, and 1,176,375 voters have returned their completed ballot.

The Michigan Voting Dashboard shows 2026 county and municipal ballot request and return data. The dashboard will be updated daily with mail ballot and early voting totals between now and the Monday before Election Day. A breakdown of 2022 mail ballot numbers by jurisdiction can be downloaded online.

Mail ballots must be received by clerks no later than 8 p.m. on election night, Nov. 3. Instead of using the mail to return a ballot this close to Election Day, voters should put it in a local ballot drop box or hand-deliver it to their clerk’s office to avoid possible postal delays. Voters with a mail (absentee) ballot can visit mi.gov/trackballot to confirm their ballot has arrived at their clerk’s office to be counted.

Michiganders who have not yet registered to vote can do so in person at their clerk’s office and then vote an absentee ballot in one trip through 8 p.m. on Election Day.
