Millions of speedy transactions
- This week, the 3 millionth Secretary of State transaction was conducted on one of the state’s new self-service stations.
- The average transaction time on the machines is just two minutes, and they print vehicle tabs, registrations and temporary driver’s licenses on the spot.
- There are 160 new self-service stations in the state, and most of them are located in grocery stores where Michiganders already go. All accept credit cards, many accept cash, and all are multilingual.
- The machines were installed at no cost to taxpayers through a public-private partnership. They charge a $3.95 convenience fee per transaction.
