Travel trips are suspended until Oxford Township Parks & Recreation reaches Phase 6 of the Michigan Safe Start Plan. If you are interested in any of the planned trips, please contact the Senior Center at (248) 628-1720 to place your name on an "interest list."  When we reach the point where our Township can offer travel safely, we will contact you, and, if you are still interested, we will take payment at that time.

Get out & get fit, all while enjoying a relaxing stroll through Seymour Lake Township Park. It's a great way to enjoy the beauty of the park while getting some exercise and meet some new friends!

TAI CHI for Health Goes OUTDOORS

Seymour Lake Township Park• Tuesdays and Thursdays forecast:  TAI CHI!  Is Tai Chi the best part of your day? Join Cheryl Goodwin as she brings Tai Chi to the outdoors.  Cheryl Goodwin, Certified Instructor TCA, TCD. Tai Chi focuses on fluid, circular movements that are relaxed and slow in tempo. Medical research shows that practitioners of Tai Chi Benefit from increased flexibility, muscle strength, deep breathing and mental concentration. The basics are easy to learn and for many continue as a lifelong journey.
Join her at the Laidler Pavilion in Seymour Lake Township Park July 14 or 16 at 10:00 a.m for six weeks.            Pre-registration required at the Oxford Township Parks & Recreation Administrative Office or by calling (248) 628-1720.

DIA is hosting Virtual MOTOWN Sound for Seniors

In partnership with the Detroit Institute of Arts, Oakland County Parks and Recreation will offer a special virtual program for adults 55 and older on Tuesday, June 30 at 11 a.m.

The Motown Sound Senior Program will draw back the curtain on arrangements, performance, songwriting and production styles of the renowned Motown record label.

Percussionist and songwriter Drew Schultz will lead an educational presentation that features hits by familiar artists including Stevie Wonder; Diana Ross and The Supremes, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles; The Temptations; The Four Tops; Martha Reeves and The Vandellas; Junior Walker and The All Stars; and more.  "The Sound of Young America" was the source of countless hits of the 60s and 70s coming out of the Motor City.

“During this challenging time, the DIA has strived to create meaningful and unique virtual experiences for tri-county residents,” said DIA Deputy Director of Art, Education & Programs Judith F. Dolkart. “We are pleased to partner with Oakland County Parks on this special event that will give participants a look at the music evolution of the Motown record label, a legendary Detroit institution that has filled the American airwaves with its sounds.”

Thursdays at the Museum is made possible by the Detroit Institute of Arts’ tri-county millage funds.

LIne Dancing

Oxford Line Dancing

Oxford Line Dancing started dancing this past Wednesday. Dancers will continue meet weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. in the Laidler Pavilion in Seymour Lake Township Park. 
No experience needed. It is a great way to exercise and meet new friends!
Cost is $4.00 per person onsite.
