Quilt

Keep up with your Quilting Skills while staying at home!

Lori Miller from the Patchwork Friends Quilting Club offers a few suggestions to keep busy and active while you are at home.  Most Quilters have been stashing away fabric and supplies for a long time, so most of us have the supplies and tools to keep busy.  There are still online shops and local shops who will ship you items you may need if you need some batting or thread without going out.

Work on your UFO’s

Unfinished Objects are those projects still waiting for completion.  For whatever reason, they are not done and now is the time to pull them out and finish a few of them up.  You have the time to figure them out and get the satisfaction of a finish.

Make up a small baby or charity quilt

These items don’t take many supplies and you probably have enough fabric or quilt blocks on hand to put one of these together.  Get creative and mix and match colors. Peruse Pinterest for some great inspiration.

Learn a new skill- watch this You-tube video on Cruved-Piecing Quilting Tutorial & Quilter's World Summer...

Now is the time to explore a new technique or skill.  Have you tried curved piecing?  What about big stitch quilting? What about foundation paper piecing? There are loads of free beginner tutorials and you tube videos out there that will walk you through it step by step.  All you need is a computer, tablet or smart phone.  Google your topic and start learning.

Join an online sew along

There are a lot of great sew alongs going on right now.  Some have started but you can catch up. Here are a few free fun ones:

Donate a Mask

The Oxford Police Department is accepting homemade masks.

There is a collection bin at the Oxford Police Department at 22 W. Burdick St. in the hallway in front of the receptionist.  Donations can be made during regular police department business hours 9 am – 5 pm Monday to Thursday and 10am to 5 pm on Friday.  These masks will be donated to local hospitals or wherever they are needed.

There are many free patterns available online to choose from with tutorials and material suggestions.  If you have the skills, your support is much appreciated.

Spring brings new growth, weed out the bad & make room for something beautiful!
