Medication Takeback Event

On Saturday, April 27, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Ottawa County Opiate Taskforce will be participating in a national medication takeback event in order to safely dispose of unused and expired medications in our community.

"Why do we participate in medication takeback events?"

It is important to safely dispose of medications by giving them to Law Enforcement because when we throw medications in the trash or flush them down the toilet, the medications contaminate our water supply.  Also, storing unused or expired medications creates a risk of accidental or intentional misuse of medications.  The University of Michigan reports that every 10 minutes a child is taken to the emergency department for medication poisoning.  Let's reduce the risk of accidental medication poisoning in our community by cleaning out our medication cabinets and safely disposing of any unused and expired medications!

"What can I do?"

Bring your medications for disposal to one of these sites:

  • Health Pointe, 15100 Whittaker Way, Grand Haven, MI 49417
  • Meijer, 746 E. 16th Street, Holland, MI 49423
  • Meijer, 4075 32nd Avenue, Hudsonville, MI 49426
  • Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital, 8333 Felch Street, Zeeland, MI 49464
