Work continues on winter weather cleanup

How you can help speed up snow removal efforts

The Road Commission was out in full-force during this week’s storm, and had every vehicle available maintaining state and primary roads continuously during the extreme winter weather.

Our team worked to keep travel safe and limit delays as much as possible.

Any storm of this intensity and magnitude puts our workers to the test. We continue to face the challenge head-on in order to get all the county roads clear.

We ask for the public's cooperation and understanding over the next few days as our crews work hard to plow our secondary and subdivision streets.

Cleaning out storm water catch basins

With rain and warmer temperatures on the horizon, we ask for your help in removing built up snow from storm water catch basins.

When snow begins to melt it's important that the runoff water gets into the storm sewer.

Taking steps to help remove snow from the catch basins will help prevent street flooding, and potential hazards from this water refreezing if temperatures take a dive.

Remove vehicles from subdivision streets to help plow efforts

To help provide efficient and effective snow removal, we ask for the cooperation of the public in removing vehicles from the road during snow removal operations.

Please park your vehicles in your driveway, off the road, and not at the dead-end of cul-de-sacs. These cars hinder our snow removal operations, and may be subject to being towed at your expense.

Keep the snow out of the street

One last reminder: please keep the snow out of the street.

It is the homeowners' responsibility to remove snow built up at the end of the driveway, and it's illegal to shovel or plow snow and ice back onto any road or highway.

In addition to creating a safety hazard, putting snow back in the road creates added work for the Road Commission and prolongs the time it takes for our crews to plow other streets.
