Ottawa County Appoints New Treasurer


The Ottawa County Selection Committee has chosen former Park Township Supervisor and State Representative Amanda Price to serve as the next Ottawa County Treasurer. Former Representative Price will bring a great deal of experience to her new role, both as a financial professional and as a public servant.

Price will take over the County Treasurer position from current Treasurer, Mr. Bradley Slagh. Mr. Slagh was appointed to the Treasurer position on September 10, 2007, and was elected three times to serve in that role. Mr. Slagh is leaving the Treasurer position as of December 31 to serve as the next State Representative for the 90th State House District.

Fmr. Representative Price stood out among a highly qualified field, which included several other financial professionals and public servants. “We were thrilled with the caliber of the candidates who applied for Treasurer, and we are excited to have the chance to work with Amanda to continue to provide excellent customer service to the people of Ottawa County,” said Justin Roebuck, Ottawa County Clerk / Register of Deeds, and Chairman of the Ottawa County Selection Committee.

Price represented the 89th District for six years in the Michigan House of Representatives serving as Chair of the Local Government Committee and on the Tax Policy Committee. In 2015, Price was named the Michigan Association of Counties “Advocate,” and the Legislator of the Year by the Association of Builders and Contractors of Michigan. She is a graduate of Michigan State University, has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Western Michigan University, and is a graduate of the Michigan State University Michigan Political Leadership Program.

“I am honored to be chosen to serve the residents of Ottawa County as their newly appointed County Treasurer,” said Price.

The County Selection Committee is required by statute to appoint the County Treasurer in the case of a vacancy, and Fmr. Representative Price will complete the remaining two years of Mr. Slagh’s term. The Selection Committee Consists of Mr. Roebuck, Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney Ronald Frantz, and Ottawa County Probate Judge Mark Feyen. The office of Treasurer will appear on the ballot again in 2020, and will be elected to serve a four-year term.
