No Body Contact Advisory Issued for Sand Creek in Ottawa County

June 28, 2018

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality notified the Ottawa County Department of Public Health (OCDPH) of a sewage release that occurred in Walker (3 Mile Road in Kent County). The OCDPH issued a No Body Contact Advisory for Sand Creek in Ottawa County. The creek runs through Tallmadge Township and into Wright Township when it crosses I96 to the north, then south again into Tallmadge Township (see the map below).

This advisory is effective immediately and will stay in effect until repairs are completed and the water has been tested. People should avoid bodily contact, particularly submergence of the head, with these waters until this advisory is lifted.
