The supplemental appropriation from the Michigan Legislature, signed by Governor Rick Snyder, provides a one-time $175 million increase in transportation funding, garnering the Ottawa County Road Commission (OCRC) $1.9 million in additional revenue. The road commission will use these funds in 2018 to complete approximately 7 miles of additional improvements to primary and local roads.

“We applaud Governor Rick Snyder and Michigan Legislature for providing an extra $175 million in state dollars toward road improvements this year,” said OCRC’s Managing Director Brett Laughlin. “With the increase, the Ottawa County Road Commission will expand the 2018 construction list to include more road improvements across the county system."

Leonard Street

Leonard Street was already included in the 2018 construction schedule for resurfacing, but the

additional funding allows the Road Commission to extend the limits of the project to include sections

that are also in need of resurfacing.

The following projects were identified and selected to receive improvements with the additional supplemental funding revenues:

Leonard Street from 136th Avenue to 112th Avenue (Crockery Township) – This project is an expansion of the planned limits from 148th Avenue to 136th Avenue and will include construction of 3 foot paved shoulders and resurfacing of the entire road.

20th Avenue from Newcastle Drive to Bauer Road (Georgetown Township) – This project will involve the milling of existing road surface and the placement of hot mix asphalt.

Lakewood Boulevard from Beeline Road to Garden Avenue (Holland Township) – Holland Charter Township (HCT) will be constructing a new watermain system which will result in the reconstruction of the westbound lanes of Lakewood Boulevard. In cooperation and partnership, the OCRC has included milling and resurfacing milling of the existing road surface of the center and eastbound lanes. When completed, the entire road width for the project will be resurfaced.

60th Avenue from M-45 to Lincoln Street (Allendale Township) – This project will involve resurfacing the entire road width.
