New Hire Benefit Plan Elections
A list of your employees for the 2014 fiscal year who elected Defined Contribution, and whose benefit plan has been changed in our system, has been uploaded to the Data Exchange Gateway (DEG).
The information provided is based on the data received from your reporting unit. Carefully review the file and ensure that your employees are being reported correctly to ORS. Please remember that this list only contains members who have been changed in our system. If you recently faxed over a New Hire Retirement Plan Election for a member, please wait a minimum of 10 business days after the DTL1 record posts before contacting ORS Web Reporting.

Public Act 300 of 2012 states that it is the employer’s responsibility to provide these members with a New Hire Retirement Plan Election form once they have started working for your reporting unit. The election form is available on the Employer Information Website at www.michigan.gov/psru. New members to the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement system who first work on or after September 4, 2012, have 75 days from the end date of the payroll report on which their first wages are reported to ORS to submit a New Hire Retirement Plan Election form. Please return this form to ORS within 5 days of the employee signing it.

You can also visit the Reporting Instruction Manual at www.michigan.gov/ORSRIM on how to make the appropriate DTL4 adjustments for these members. Downloading your File from the Data Exchange Gateway:
Directions using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer
- Go to DEG site at https://dxgweb.state.mi.us
- Login
- Select the Available Msgs option on the Action Menu Bar
- Locate the file named MbrFile
- Click the Binary Format icon 10 to start the download
- Select the location Desktop to save your file
- Change Save As prompt to All Files
- Rename file to MbrFile.csv
- Go to desktop and open spreadsheet by double clicking on icon.
