On Aug. 25, all reports your reporting unit (RU) submits must comply with the updated file layouts we provided earlier this year. To avoid late fees and interest when that deadline comes, now is the time to use our Roth 457 test environment to ensure your files will load successfully.
In the test environment, click Login, then use the same username you use when normally submitting reports and payments. For your password, contact your RU’s Web Administrator (or in a very few cases, your ER1 contact).
Once you’ are logged in, you should see orsuatext7 in the first part of your browser’s URL. Test your updated file format by submitting a report in the test environment. If the report is not accepted the next day, you need to address the issue before Aug. 25. This may involve working with your vendor.
The most common problem we’ve seen — for RUs who tested a file that failed to load properly — is an extra line below the footer of the report. If your file fails to load correctly, this is the first thing to check (or have your vendor check).
We recommend you familiarize yourself with the State of Michigan Roth 457 Accounts resource page on the Employer Information website, which has the specifications for the updated file layouts as well as a set of FAQs and screenshots of how the reporting website will look after the change. When submitting your current reports, however, be sure you’re logged in with your regular username and password. Be aware the new file format will not work for your current reports (except in the test environment) until Aug. 25, 2025. On that date the old file format will no longer work, and the new file format will be required for all reports.
