November School Aid Fund payment includes reimbursement for retirement costs

Included with your November School Aid Fund payment is the first quarter (July – September) reimbursement for the 2019-20 school fiscal year for increased retirement costs due to the passage of Public Act 92 of 2017. The state’s reimbursement consists of the 4 percent contribution for participants in the Defined Contribution (DC) plan, and the difference between Pension Plus and Pension Plus 2 employer normal cost contributions (3.13 percent). The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) describes this amount as Section 147e.

This amount will not appear on your employer statement, and ORS will not invoice you for it, because it is a reimbursement for contributions you have reported through the first quarter of the school fiscal year.

Reminder: your UAAL rate stabilization invoice is now available on the Employer Reporting website. This month's invoice reflects payments for both October and November and is due to ORS by the date on the invoice. MDE describes this amount as Section 147c.
