Village of Milford Construction Updates for the Week Ending 8/8/2014
Village of Milford, MI sent this bulletin at 08/08/2014 02:31 PM EDTThe following is an update on current and upcoming construction projects within the Village of Milford as of August 8, 2014. Projected dates are weather permitting.
Phase II - 2013 Paving (Fairview Hills)
Due to weather delays the final course of asphalt is scheduled to be completed prior to Labor Day weekend. The contractor and the village have also been monitoring the performance of the base course of asphalt and will make the necessary repairs to these sections prior to applying the final course of asphalt. While we understand the inconvenience of not having the project completed earlier, we are confident that all the trouble areas will be identified and fixed prior to applying the final course of asphalt. This will lead to the better product in the end. Notices will be delivered to the neighborhood as soon as a date is selected. Minor drain work near the intersection of First and Canal is being added to the project and will commence after Labor Day. All restoration and punch list items will be complete by the end of September.
2014 Paving (Knight, Duke, Center)
Curb and gutter on the both sides of Knight Street and Duke Street are in place, with concrete driveways following on Tuesday. The contractor is planning to finish the grading over the weekend and next week. Asphalt will then be placed (Base course) prior to Labor Day so the road will be opened to traffic once school is in session. The top course of asphalt will be placed several weeks after this to allow for needed repairs to be made. The Village asks the residents do not drive on the newly installed concrete driveways until you have been notified you can do so by either the contractor or the project inspector (OHM).
Friar/Prince intersection work is also underway. This intersection is being done all at once so avoid this area as the intersection is closed. The remaining curb and gutter and driveway work on Knight and Duke will take place shortly thereafter.
Work on Center Street will not commence until after Labor Day.
Sewer Lining & Repairs
This work, which is taking place in various locations within the Village, went out for bid on June 11. The Village awarded this project to at the July 21st Village Council meeting and work will begin in late August and be completed by early November.
