Happy New Year, Holly!

2019 was a great year for the Village of Holly!  We accomplished a lot and made progress on so many projects.  These include keeping up on maintenance and repairs, adding an outdoor sound system and WiFi in the Downtown, and new public art.  We also held several successful events and were pleased to be recognized nationally for landing in 6th place and earning a $150,000 grant to put toward our Holly Union Depot project.

Looking forward to the future, we have some big plans for next year.  We just hired a new police chief and we’re excited about him furthering our relationship and collaborating with Holly Area Schools.  We rehabbed a blighted building and moved our Fire Department to midtown, which allows us to provide better service to our residents because seconds count.  2020 will be full of events, inviting people to experience our historic Downtown.  These free public events include concerts in the park, movies in Battle Alley, Spring and Fall Ladies Night Out, our 4th of July Fireworks, HollyDays, Hollyween, Small Business Saturday, and the Holly Dickens Festival.

Business is booming in the Village of Holly!  The Downtown is at nearly 100% occupancy and several new businesses have moved in including Holly Urgent Care, ELGA Credit Union, and the Tim Horton’s will be opening soon.  We will continue our customer-friendly relationship in the Village to attract new development.  In 2020, we will address significant road issues that may include a road bond in the future.  We are also updating our master plan and working on renewal of our TIF plan for the DDA.  We’ll add new banners on our light poles and enhanced entrance signs to warmly welcome visitors and residents alike.  We’ll also build a pavilion in Water Works Park and make progress toward moving our historic Holly Union Depot to its new location.

2020 will surely be a busy year for the Village of Holly!

  • Please be aware that Republic does not have lawn refuge pickup in the Village from November-March.  This includes bagged leafs and large branches. Republic will be collecting Christmas Trees until January 15th. After that Christmas Trees can be recycled at Groveland Oaks County Park located at 14555 Dixie Hwy.  They can be recycled from 9am-4pm, seven days a week until  January 26th.
  • It's that time of year again, please keep in mind that our SNOW ordinance is for safety in the event of snow.   Ordinance reads, "No parking on any Village street during a snow emergency. A snow emergency is declared when two (2) inches of snow or more are predicted by the National Weather Service out of Flint or White Lake, whichever is higher.  Parking will remain prohibited until 24 hours after the snowfall has ended." Therefore, only in times of 2 inches or more snow does your car need to be moved off of the streets.  Please help us in thanking our Village DPW and all the work they do to keep our streets clean and safe!
