Holly Area Veterans Resource Center will sponsor VET to VET welcoming all current and prior military and their partners/ spouses.  From 5:30 - 7 PM every third Monday of the month with food provided. Please come spend time with fellow Veterans. We hope to see you! The Holly Area Veterans Center is located at the Karl Richter Community Center, 300 East Street.

Come to Karl Richter Center for Yoga with instructor Carrie Mularoni. Open to public, with veterans getting first choice. Up to 16 people per class. Wear comfortable clothing. Water provided. New Generation Seniors of Holly

September Events

 

Have you heard about our wonderful Seniors group that meets every week?  Check out all the fun activities they have planned!  Help us spread the word about all the great stuff our Seniors are doing.  Invite friends to join you! Follow their Facebook Page 'New Generation Seniors' to learn more. Read about their upcoming events below. 

 

  • Our Main gatherings are Thursdays from 1-4pm in the Community Room of Karl Richter Campus (300 East Street).  Every third Thursday of the month beginning at noon is potluck with the Hollyhocks followed with bingo at 1pm!  Come see what the laughter is all about! 
  • 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month at 11am join the Holly Van Goghs for a watercolor class. $5 a term to help with paint costs.  Meet us in the Community Room at KRC.
  • Mondays and every 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of the month join us at Lakeside Park for Pickleball.  From 11am-1pm, weather permitting.

Downtown Holly Twilight Tours

Friday, September 27th, 7-8:30pm

Learn the history and legends of our historic village. Our tour guides will introduce you to storytellers, historic figures, and a few ghosts along the way. Walking tour of Historic Holly departs Battle Alley Coffee every 15 minutes from 7-8:30 pm. Tickets $5 each.

Welcome Acting Police Chief Fischer

 

We are excited to announce that Scott Fischer has been appointed as Acting Police Chief for the Village of Holly; he was sworn in this morning. Scott retired from the Holly Police Department after 33 years of service at the rank of Lieutenant. For the last 7 years, he worked for the Oakland County Sheriff in court services. Scott is familiar with the officers, schools, businesses, and the Holly community. Advertisement for the Chief's position will begin Tuesday, September 3rd. Scott will serve in the position of Acting Chief for 60-90 days while we conduct the hiring process.

This is an outstanding group of Officers with nearly 80 years of experience and training. The residents are fortunate to have such a solid team of leaders and we really appreciate their dedication to this amazing community.


 

DPW Reminder 

 

The DPW has been doing some repairs to the water delivery system recently.  We care about the quality of our water and we want to remind you that in the event that you notice that you have discolored water:

  • Please remember to run one of your sinks for 5-10 minutes to see if the water clears. 
  • Please do not drink the water, run hot water, or do laundry if water is discolored. 
  • Please call the DPW if water does not become clear at 248-364-2202.  The DPWs hours are Monday - Thursday, 6:30am- 4:30pm.  After hours, if you experience BROWN water that does not clear within 15 minutes please call Oakland County Dispatch *non-emergency* at 248-858-4950.

Burn Permits in the Village of Holly

Open burning is allowed by permit only, and shall be issued by the Village of Holly subject to the rules of this article.

  • No burning shall be permitted within 50′ of any structure. Authorized containers shall be 15′ from any structure.
  • No burning on or along roadways.
  • No flammable liquids shall be permitted to ignite the fire. (ie. Gasoline, Kerosene, Starter Fluid, etc.)
  • Fire must be attended at all times by someone with the capabilities of extinguishing the fire.
  • The size of the burn area shall be no larger than 3′ in diameter.
  • Burning violations may be subject to fines in accordance with Civil Infraction Citation penalties. First offense will be $50.00, second offense $100.00, third offense $250.00, fourth offense $500.00, all subsequent offenses $500.
  • Fires at night may be permitted with special permission for the day the fire is desired.
  • REMEMBER, burning is a privilege that may be revoked at any time. It shall be the option of the fire official to dictate the right to burn.

Refuse, paper, waste material or other combustible materials shall be burned in containers of metal or masonry construction which may contain openings no larger than one inch in width on the sides and top during the burning process. Access doors for loading or cleaning shall be kept closed during the burning process.

Online Burn Permit Form: After filling out the form, it may take several minutes for the submission to complete. Please do not resubmit, hit “back” on your browser, or close your browser until you receive your confirmation message.

It's tax time! Village taxes can be paid by cash, check, or money order. There is a fee to use a credit card.  Please pay at the Village Offices (300 East Street), by mail, or use our drop box out in front of our offices.

FALL CLEAN UP

Saturday, October 12th, 8am- 2pm

5051 Grange Hall Road

 

Clean-up days are provided for Holly Township residents to remove refuse from their properties. Residents are also encouraged to participate in the clean-up of Township roads.
Garbage Trucks will be located in the parking lot. You
must bring refuse to the truck. THERE WILL BE NO
ROADSIDE PICKUP, NO COMMERCIAL DUMPING AND NO ON SITE SHOVELING ALLOWED.You must be in line by 2 p.m.

Someone will be present to verify residency and/or property owners.

All barrels and fuel oil tanks must be open-ended. No stumps, brush, leaves or concrete will be accepted. Paint cans must be empty or filled with sand or kitty litter.
There is a $5.00 per item charge for regular tires and a $7.00 per
item charge for tractor tires. All appliances will be taken.
