Troy Library Offers Great Happenings in February

Feb. 18: Optimize Your Job Search, Rock Your Next Interview, 1:30-3:30 pm. This program is in partnership with Michigan Works! Troy. FREE. troypl.org/jobsearch

February 18: Books & Brews, Granite City, 6-7:30pm. Not your grandmother’s book club, a fun and festive environment to meet new friends and read great books. Giveaways, trivia contests, prizes and more! Granite City provides food and drink discounts for Books & Brews participants only. This month, The Spellman Files: Document 1 by Lisa Lutz.

Feb. 21: Crossroads Family Band,  2-3 pm. Enjoy a concert for all ages, featuring an entire family of musicians.  The Crossroads Family Band will perform various styles of instrumental jazz, blues, be-bop, funk and fusion. 

Feb. 28: Drive-In Movie, 1-3 pm.  Join us for a family friendly “drive-in” movie inside the Library.  Kids will have a chance to create a cardboard car before finding a good place to park and watch a short film.

March 1: Troy Family Aquatic Center passes available for purchase starting today at the Troy Community Center. Also time to start booking groups, birthday parties, and your shade rentals at the Aquatic Center!

Free Tax Assistance for Seniors

March 6, 13, 20, 27: Free Tax Assistance for Seniors, Community Center, 9am - 2pm. AARP Tax-Aide volunteers, trained in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, will help low to moderate income seniors prepare tax forms, each Friday through April 10.  No walk-ins will be accepted. Appointments can be made by calling 248.526.2608.


Maple Syruping

Maple Syrup Time!

March 7, 14, 21: Maple Syrup Time, Nature Center, 9 am-3 pm. Program starts (every half hour between 9am & 3 pm) with a short introduction to maple syruping indoors, and a hike through the trails to see how sap is collected. Afterwards, stop in the sugar shed and see the wood-stoked sap evaporator in action. The tour finishes with syrup tasting over warm mini-pancakes! Fee: $8; THS & TNS members & Children (4-12) $6. Celebrate Community Center's 13th Birthday

March 7: Troy Community Center’s 13th Birthday Celebration, 10am - 9pm.  As the City of Troy celebrates their 60th Birthday, the Community Center is having their own celebration.  Stop in for our 13th Birthday Celebration sponsored by Beaumont Children's Hospital, with guaranteed fun activities for the entire family all under one roof.  Activities include games, Creative Endeavors sale, senior bingo & breakfast*, entertainment, magicians and a bounce house. Open Swim.  Appearances by the Frozen Queen, Detroit Pistons Hooper, Spider Hero, Troy High Drumline, and Square Pegz Concert.  (*fee for activity).    Senior Bingo and breakfast sponsored by: 920 on the Park Senior Housing.
