Drop-In Passes Available for Fitness Classes

Perhaps you missed the term registration for 50+ fitness classes at the Troy Community Center, just prefer to attend occasionally, or want to give a new class a try.  Drop-in passes are available for all fitness classes and can be purchased at the Community Center front desk.  For a schedule of classes and drop-in pass rates, click here and see page 5.


Fast Carriers of World War II Presentation Postponed until March 1

Roland Rosslip will present a participants perspective on the impact of this type of ship during World War II.  The presentation has been rescheduled from Feb. 2 to March 1 and will be held from 12:45-2 pm in room 503. 


Book Cadillac Hotel Tour and Lunch

Tuesday, February 7, 10 am - 2 pm
Act. #148922N  Fee:  $48;  Non-Res:  $58
The Book Cadillac Hotel was once the grandest of Detroit's downtown hotels.  A $180 million renovation has restored it to it's original splendor.  A 45-minute tour will be followed by lunch at the Boulevard Room with choice of Chicken Panini or Chicken Caesar Salad (indicate choice upon registration).  Transportation is by school bus.

Fee:  $24,  Non-Res $29  - includes 100 page book used in all three classes
Instructor Michael Wilson will cover topics such as basic e-mail, printing, playing music and DVDs, copying and pasting, transferring camera pictures, finding good free games and more.   Details on what will be covered in each class are available at the Community Center.  Fee listed is per class, and the fee is $20 (Non-Res $25) if you already have the book.

AARP Free Tax-Aide

Fridays, February 3-April 13 (excluding April 6);  9 am - 2 pm
Troy Community Center Room 301
AARP Tax-Aide volunteers, trained in cooperation with the IRS, will prepare tax returns for low to moderate income persons.   Appointments are required.  Call the Friends of Troy Seniors at 248-526-2608 or stop in at their office at the Community Center near the lunch room Monday-Friday between 10 am and 2 pm to make an appointment.  For a complete list of records to bring to have your taxes prepared, click here and see page 13.
