DOG CENSUS IN PROGRESS IN TROY
Troy residents should be aware that the Oakland County Animal Control Division is currently conducting a door-to-door dog census to ensure compliance with the Michigan State Dog Law of 1919. This law requires that all dogs have a license.
Troy residents that do not have a current dog license are encouraged to purchase their dog license online at oakgov.com/petadoption. Dog licenses can also be purchased in person or by mail from the Oakland County Animal Control Division at 1700 Brown Road, Auburn Hills. In addition, licenses be purchased at the Troy Police Department Records Division, 500 W. Big Beaver, Troy, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.
The current cost of all dog licenses is $30. When dog licenses are purchased prior to June 1, the fees are lower. After June 1, people who have not purchased a current year dog license are considered delinquent. Fees are set by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners.
The Troy Police Department wishes to thank residents that comply with the dog licensing laws. Dog licensing, as it ensures dogs have a current rabies certification, is an important part of public safety.
